Here is what caught our eye this week: The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania will offer a new online specialization, titled “Business Analytics,” the school announced recently. The specialization, which will begin its first course on September 15, is part of the Business Foundation series that is currently available to students through the Coursera online learning platform. The school will offer four courses in the Business Analytics specialization: “People Analytics,” “Accounting Analytics,” “Customer Analytics,” and “Operations Analytics.” Harvard Business School (HBS) is well known for its extensive and largely successful alumni pool, but one field filled with HBS grads could be a surprise: fashion. The Puritans were a religious group that came to North America in search of religious freedom, and, in the process, greatly impacted the North American church, government, education, social mores, and economy. Many of the things that they implemented in the first colonies are still seen today in the social and governmental structures of the United States. Their beliefs and traditions are still practiced today and many social mores are still being adhered to, even now. The Puritans first became a sect in England, where they became dissatisfied with the Church of England and sought reform. They led a civil war but their victory was short-lived and they came to North America to escape persecution. â€Å"The Puritans believed†¦show more content†¦Their government was in the form of a republic, which later became a model for the United State’s future government. They came up with the idea of two houses of representatives that could pass bills and as we can see in the U.S. government today, their idea stuck (Chamber, ). Even though their government was a republic, the Puritans pushed the principles of democracy. Their ideals, such as freedom, liberty, and religion, became a base for our society today. The Puritans also left a legacy of conservatism which remains an important factor in North American government today (The Social Studies Help Center). Crashing to the floor and flying into the wall quickly put the disappointment and regret out of my mind. Still in a daze from the crash, I got up, only to see my mother rushing over to me to make sure that I was ok. She had a look of care only a mother could give and moved with the speed of a mother bear running to protect her cubs. After a few Blues Clues bandages and kisses to make me feel better, I promised that I would never ride the laundry basket down the stairs again. I had learned my lesson. That is, until I happened to find the bean bag chair in the basement†¦ That was one of my first lessons learned through â€Å"the hard way.† Recently, I came into a close call lesson that changed the way that I thought about college and my entire future. Freshman and sophomore years, I had the mindset that college was easy to get into and that colleges didn’t look at early high-school grades. But after my sophomore year when my brother got rejected from many colleges from his early grades, something clicked in my head- it all matters. With this in mind I completely changed my attitude. I started to buckle down, get good grades, and participate in school and volunteer activities.
